Tapsearcher explores the upside down Flat World Fables by Thomas Friedman, elitist writer for the New York Times and an evangelist for Free Trade and Globalism, at:
http://tapsearch.com/flatworld/
He cites what he calls "flatteners" which are periods in history which he believes paved the way for Globalization. Tapsearcher challenges his "flatteners" and concepts. Friedman confuses causes and effects and uses present day statistics that do not match up with history. He ignores the fact that workers have no voice in the process of Globalization and Free Trade even though workers are the core of any economy. History tells us what happens when workers are left out of the picture. He ignores the fact that international entities like the WTO control the flow of money and power outside of any real democratic process.

He ignores the fact that Free Trade is not trade as historically practiced and defined. Free Trade is based on moving production from place to place based on the cheapest labor markets of the world. When the factories move each time, burn out communities and societies are left behind.
The main commodities of Free Trade are human beings as workers. They are put on a world trading block to compete with one another down to the lowest levels of slave wage and even child labor. The last time, trade was based on human beings as commodities was during the slave trade days.

All should read The Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins. Basically he tells us the value of the dollar is based on amount of power the USA can extend over the globe and domestic and trade deficits forces Free Trade which forces consumerism to cover the debt USA has.
